Janez Šušteršič is a partner and head of research team in private research and consultancy company RE-FORMA and a full professor of economics. His current work includes research projects in Slovenia and consultancies in Western Balkan and EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood countries, related to economic reforms, policy design and public financial management.
His academic work is focused on political economy and institutional economics and is published in international journals such as Kyklos, International Review of Law and Economics and Public Choice. From 2000 to 2007, he lead the Slovenian Government’s Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development, which performs the roles of economic analysis, forecasting and policy advice. In 2012, he was finance minister of Slovenia designing the policy of fiscal consolidation and banking crisis resolution.
